Jack Hale is Reader in Structural Dynamics in the School of Mechanical and Systems Engineering at Newcastle University, UK.  He teaches elementary mechanics to the 1st years and more advanced dynamics to the post graduates.  His research interests are concerned with vibration:  active vibration reduction in smart structures and the development of thick-film vibration sensors (piezoelectric paint).

Before that he was a Section Leader at UKAEA Windscale working on remote mechanical handling and measurement systems for use in high radiation environments.
