Tell us about your company and your business
Dewhurst has been providing lift signalisation for the last 100 years and continue to develop as per the demand within the industry to meet the needs of its customers. We are very people focused as well as most people don’t realise that all our products are made by hand. Its always great to the see visitors gasp in shock and go wow when they do a factory tour.
How many times have you attended the Lift & Escalator Symposium now?
This will be my second time, and I am excited to be exhibiting this time.
What will you be presenting/demonstrating?
I will be showcasing our new media screens alongside our new to market touchless buttons which I’m excited about. I also wanted to showcase the people behind the screens so there are some great videos on the display stand.
What would you say to anyone who hasn’t attended before? Why should they attend?
I think everyone should attend at least once. I found it fascinating last year to hear papers from across the globe . It’s definitely worth a go. It’s also great to catch up with everyone in one room.
Tell us what has changed for your business in the past 12 months, what have been the highlights?
The past 12 months has been a busy and exciting time for our business. In September 2023, Dewhurst Group acquired E-Motive, a global manufacturer of lift position indicators and cloud connected displays. This gives our company control over the manufacture and R&D of a critical element of our premium signalisation offering. In our UK business, we have continued to develop our product offering and we have been launching and testing new products including the latest touchless pushbuttons and M100, which is our next generation stud less pushbutton. We have had a number of people moves over the past 12 months and it has been good to welcome Bob Wells into the business as commercial manager and also to see Peter Dewhurst be promoted to MD of Dewhurst Ltd – the 4th generation of the Dewhurst family to manage and lead the business.
What do you think are the trends for the next 12 months in the industry?
Honestly I wouldn’t like to hazard a guess as it’s forever changing, but you know what, it’s just so exciting - but if I was a betting person I do think we will see some amazing advancements in auto diallers and lift monitoring over the next 12 and 24 months with the digital switch over coming online.
