Roberto Zappa holds a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic of Milan. He has over 35 years of lift industry experience, and is currently the owner of Zetaplan SRL and Chairman of IoTsafe SRL. He is also a Supervisory Board Member of Elevate (BC) Sca Luxembourg.

Since April 2018 Roberto has been President of the European Lift Association (ELA) and is a Management Committee Member of the European Elevator Association (EEA). He is a former member of CEN TC127, CEN TC10, ISO TC178 and ISO TC92 committees. In addition Roberto is a regular contributor to industry publications and conferences. He is a member of CIBSE (Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers) and was elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Directors in 2011.
